Any of the four planets Mercury,Venus,Earth, and Mars whose orbits lie nearest to the sun . The inner planets are of similar size and have high densities compared to the larger gas giants among the outer plantes. They are composed of rock and metal and are relativley slow to rotate,with solid surfaces,no rings, and few moons. Also called Terrestrial Planets.

Named for the Roman godess of love , Venus is the second planet from the sun, and also the brightest. Veuns is slightly smaller than earth , and has a very similar chemical composition. For this reason venus is commonly reffered to as Earth's "sister" planet. Venus is in view to the naked eye from earth for a period of 2-3 hours before sunrise and 2-3 hours after sunset. Venus is the only other non terrestrial body , besides the moon, that can be seen during both daytime and nightime hours . At night,Venus is usually the second brightest object in the sky
